COURSE OVERVIEW

The certificate in perioperative theatre technology course provides a comprehensive understanding of human anatomy and physiology relevant to perioperative care, emphasizing the processes, preparation, management, structures and functions crucial for surgical treatment, care, interventions, and coordination.

Students pursuing perioperative theatre technology learn about various surgical procedures and techniques, including pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative stages, with a focus on patient safety, care, support and surgical team coordination.

Students gain knowledge and skills in the management, maintenance, use and functions of different tools, devices and equipment and troubleshooting of operating room equipment to ensure optimal facilitation, support and performance during surgical procedures and overall operating theatre operations.

Overall, perioperative theater technology courses provide comprehensive training to individuals interested in supporting surgical teams and ensuring the safe and efficient delivery of patient care in the operating room.

Certificate – Level 5

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:

KCSE Mean Grade D (Plain) and above

DURATION:

One (1) Year: Three (3) Terms

EXAMINATION AND CERTIFICATION BODY:

TVET CDACC – (Technical and Vocational Education and Training, Curriculum Development, Assessment and Certification Council)

Additional USA (United States of America) International Exam Option

PRACTICING LICENSE:

Kenya Health Professions Oversight Authority (KHPOA)

INTAKES: December/January, April/May, August/September
