The Social work and Community Development Level 5 qualification consists of competencies that a person must achieve to enable him/her work in the social work industry. It involves conducting social research works, performing psychosocial support, conducting social policy formulation and public administration, managing project resources, conducting community awareness activities, conflicting resolution and management, performing home-based care and support, carrying out child welfare programmes, managing community-based groups and conducting community crisis and disaster sensitization programmes.
A Certificate in Social Work & Community Development will serve to prepare students for a career and equip students with social work skills to engage with individuals, families, groups and communities to enhance social functioning and overall well-being of the people. Graduates will be able to apply social sciences, such as sociology, psychology, political science, public health, community development, law, and economics, to engage with various stakeholders to develop interventions that solve social and personal problems; and create social change.
