A Diploma in Social Work & Community Development qualification consists of competencies that a person must achieve to enable them to be certified as a Social Worker. It involves managing community resources, conducting community empowerment, coordinating community projects, conducting community awareness training and sensitization, carrying out advocacy and lobbying activities carrying out crisis and disaster management, coordinating conflict resolution and management, performing home-based care and support, coordinating rehabilitation programmes, carrying out child welfare programmes, conducting case management and managing community-based groups

A Diploma in Social Work & Community Development will serve to prepare students for a career and equip students with knowledge, skills, attitudes, and competencies that will enable them to work with all types of vulnerable people, groups and communities to help them learn to live better lives.

COURSE LEVEL:

Diploma – Level 6

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:

KCSE Mean Grade C- (Minus) and above or Social Work and Community Development Level 5 Qualification

DURATION:

Two (2) Years: Six (6) Terms

EXAMINATION AND CERTIFICATION BODY:

TVET CDACC – (Technical and Vocational Education and Training, Curriculum Development, Assessment and Certification Council)

Additional USA (United States of America) International Exam Option 

INTAKES: December/January, April/May, August/September

JOBS AND EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES:

Graduates in the social work and community development field of study may pursue various job roles and opportunities in community development organizations, national government health departments, local and county government health institutions, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), international development organizations and agencies, or medical centers, hospitals and healthcare facilities, in job roles and opportunities including but not limited to;
